Working to ensure that everyone living in Oregon has coverage for a standard package of health care as a first step toward quality, affordable health care for all.

600,000 Oregonians lack health insurance.
The Foundation’s approach to access is based in the fundamental principle that all people have the right to quality health care. And access starts with health care coverage. The 2007 Healthy Oregon Act, which mandates a plan to cover the uninsured, presents a historic opportunity to expand health care coverage in the state.
The Northwest Health Foundation supports organizations working to increase access in Oregon and southwest Washington, both within the current health care system and through a process of grassroots engagement in health reform.

Profile: Oregon Health Reform Collaborative
Behind the scenes of the public discussion about increasing health care access and reforming the system, an informal group of organizations — representing consumers, providers, insurers, underserved populations, business, and faith-based
communities — has been working to set their agendas aside and speak with one voice about the need for comprehensive health reform.
Convened jointly by the Northwest Health Foundation and the Oregon Health Policy Commission, the Oregon Health Reform Collaborative has been meeting since early 2006 to find ways to support each other's efforts and develop a common vision and message for a vastly improved health care system in Oregon.
